体面生活是基于个体的自由选择并受客观条件制约的、得体有尊严并且可以为一般人接受的生活。就体面生活而言,我们所不能忽视的是人作为智性的主体参与公共实践的体面。这是由公民的身份所衍生出来的体面。公民美德和公共理性是实现体面的公共生活的基础,而就体面公共生活的内容而言,我们从参与主体、参与方式与参与渠道将其分为身份的体面、行动的体面、程序的体面。就实践层面而言,我们还要通过公民身份所带来的权利和义务来实现体面的公共生活,落实民主协商制度,在公民尊严的保护中彰显体面的公共生活,还要通过积极的行动去建设人类命运共同体。

A decent life, based on an individual's free choice and subject to objective conditions, is respectable, dignified, and acceptable to the general people. As far as decent life is concerned, what we cannot ignore is the decency of human beings participating in public practice as an intellectual subject. This is the respectability that comes from citizenship. Civic virtue and public rationality are the foundations of a decent public life, while the content of a decent public life is divided into the decency of identity, the decency of action, and the decency of process in terms of the subject, the means and channels of participation. On a practical level, we need to achieve decent public life through exercising the rights and performing the obligations that come with the citizenship, implement the system of democratic consultation, and build a community of shared future for mankind through active actions.
