- Abstract:
- The notion of heroine was well received in the late Qing Dynasty. Female students became not only the pioneers but also the majority of heroines due to their special identity. Novels at that time featured abundant heroic female students, who were extraordinary women good at taking actions, delivering speeches and writing essays. Taking Qiu Jin as an example, the descriptions of heroines in fictional texts read by female students have exerted profound effects on the cultivation of their heroic character, as well as their daily activities, emotional experiences and manners.
