To make a country stronger, we must prioritize education, and at the heart of educational improvement is the need to enhance the capabilities of our teachers. Making strides in building China into a teacher education powerhouse is not just a historical obligation but a practical necessity for the advancement of education in the country. The comprehension of the essential essence of a teacher education powerhouse necessitates scrutiny through both ontological and axiological lenses—signifying that teacher education should not only achieve a pinnacle of development itself but also wield robust influence in supporting and propelling educational reform and societal progress. The foundational traits of a teacher education powerhouse manifest in its role as a dynamic manifestation of educational progress, anchored by a high-caliber teacher education system benchmarked against global standards. In this new era, the primary strategies for cultivating a teacher education powerhouse encompass embracing a novel development paradigm for teacher education—one that is innovative, coordinated, environmentally conscious, open, and collaborative. Prioritizing the cultivation of ethically-driven educators, fostering a diverse and open framework for teacher training to bolster basic education, and broadening the international scope of teacher education to enhance educators' global competency stand as key avenues. Furthermore, it involves refining the assessment mechanisms for the quality of teacher education to catalyze transformative reforms.
