Abstract:
Education in the Anthropocene has lost its way and lacks genuine concern for children. The consumerization of education captures and misdirects children's attention, leading to the replacement of “Eros” by “drive”. The modulation of education mobilizes children's adaptability, equips them with usable functions, and blocks their psychic individuation. At the same time, the reduction of education to learning annihilates existential learning, eliminates symbolic meaning-making, and destroys children's thinking ability. In order to solve this problem, we argue that the way education cares for children is to take care of their intellectual mind, and lead them to create psychic individuation which helps develop their wisdom, virtue, and skills of thought, speech and action. Only by caring for children' state of mind and formation of attention, and guiding them to learn existential thinking can education exercise children's mind, wisdom, and spirit; help them achieve psychic individuation, cultivate a sound mind, create the negentropy of life out of the Anthropocene; and raise a future generation that can truly care for themselves, the society, the world, the nature, and the humanity.
