弗朗西斯·培根指出了存在于人类之中的四种幻象，亦即种族幻象、洞穴幻象、市场幻象和剧场幻象。它们是人内心倾向于无知和谬误的偏见，是获得真知的重大障碍。我们发现这四种幻象在现代心理学研究中仍然存在一定影响。培根被称作整个现代实验科学的真正鼻祖，其四种幻象说作为一种有效的分析框架，为以科学自居的现代心理学改进研究中存在的问题和不足，提高其科学性提供了有益镜鉴。

Francis Bacon pointed out the existence of four idols，namely：Idols of the Tribe，Idols of theCave，Idols of the Marketplace，and Idols of the Theater. They are the prejudices of the people who inclineto ignorance and error，and are the major obstacles to the truth. We find that these four idols still have someinfluence on the studies of modern psychology. Bacon is called the real originator of modern experimentalsciences as a whole. His theory of four idols still provides a useful analytical framework for the improvement ofpsychology which identifies itself as science.
