Abstract:
After three decades of reform and opening up, the textological studies on Marx’ works have made big progress in our country in that Chinese scholars have gradually outgrown their dependence on the textbook system of the former Soviet Union. Although this has enabled them to revisit and grasp Marx’ thoughts, most Chinese scholars are still confined to understanding Marx’s works from a philosophical perspective. The relative lack of systematic studies on Marx’ texts from the perspective of political economics constitutes one of the core problems in the textological studies on Marx’ works. The key to resolving this inadequacy is to bridge the disciplinary gap between philosophy and economics. In order to reveal and generalize the fundamental paradigm of Marx’s methods for philosophy and political economics, we have to investigate their evolution through putting them into a broad and comprehensive historical context. Only on this basis can we innovate in our exploration of the contemporary Chinese system of historical materialism.
