- General Secretary Xi Jinping, in a series of important speeches, has made significant statements regarding “promoting the propagation of common human values and advancing the construction of a human community with a shared future”. This has formed a significant concept in global development and global governance, termed “building a human community with a shared future guided by common human values”. Interpreting this significant concept from the perspective of historical materialism inevitably leads to the reflection on and further inquiry into the following fundamental questions:(1)In the present era, what constitutes the practical basis for common human values and the construction of a human community with a shared future?(2)Why is it essential for common human values to guide the construction of a human community with a shared future?(3)How can common human values effectively guide the construction of a human community with a shared future?(4)What role does the construction of a human community with a shared future play in promoting common human values?(5)How can we use common human values to guide the construction of a human community with a shared future?(6)How does the significant concept of “building a human community with a shared future guided by common human values” transcend the existing global development concepts such as “social evolution theory”, “universal values”, and “value relativism”?(7)How does this great concept open up new frontiers for historical materialism in the 21st century?
