Abstract:
Doctor-patient conflict is a common issue of modernity in the contemporary world. It is an inevitable consequence of various measures adopted by doctors, patients, and other stakeholders to manage the modernity risks. The construction of a doctor-patient community must be understood in the grand context of a modern risk society. Essentially, the doctor-patient community is a special form of risk community, that is, a social group formed to prevent and resolve risks. In addition to doctors and patients, the parties involved in the construction includes the Party and government organizations; medical institutions; medical arbitration and mediation agencies; commercialized medical and health insurance institutions; pharmaceutical manufacturing companies; public health-related charitable organizations; and other related social organizations. Only by coordinating the positive functions of various entities can we finally build a risk-sharing community. At the same time, this kind of community should also employ the humanized and emotional bonds of the traditional community from the perspective of social psychology with Chinese characteristics so that the ideal state of harmonious mentality order between doctors and patients can be achieved.
