Abstract:
With the migration of writers from Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces to Shanghai in the late QingDynasty and the early Republic of China, more and more writers’ communities came into being in this newlybuiltcity, which provided new opportunities for modern writers to survive and communicate with each other. This migration played a very important role in the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the productionof theoretical literary knowledge and provided rich resources for the prosperity of modern literary media. Thepositive activities of these writers in Shanghai involving personnel aggregation, media prosperity, knowledgedissemination, and theoretical production made the city the earliest mature field of modern literature in the early20th century.
