Abstract:
A university should make full use of its various capitals, promote its academic freedom andautonomy, and persevere in scholarly research despite the reduction of government funds for higher educationworldwide. Conversions can be realized among different types of capital a university possesses, namelyeconomic capital, cultural capital, social capital and academic capital. The primary features of interconversionsamong various university capitals are their continuous accumulation, value growth, cost dissipation andvalue diversity. The basic ways of the conversion between different types of capitals include reproduction, interchange, transfer and inheritance. The types of conversion are economic and social conversions; directiveand indirective conversions; forced and induced conversions; internal and external conversions. It is the constantconversions of various capitals that make a university more vigorous, stronger and more innovative.
