- Qian Qianyi was the first scholar proposing that Sa’dal-Allah，an Islamic poet of the Late YuanDynasty，once worked in his late years as an aid in Fang Guozhen’s office. His opinion was supported by someother scholars. However，the following four facts are at odds with Qian’s proposal. Firstly，Fang Guozhenwas openly hostile to people of minority groups，and Sa’dal-Allah was a poet of Hui nationality. Secondly，inSa’dal-Allah’s extant works，there is no record of the people and events concerning Fang Guozhen as well ashis travel to the region under Fang’s governance. Thirdly，scholars sponsored by Fang Guozhen left no recordof Sa’dal-Allah in their writings either. Finally，the earliest two historical records indicating the relationshipbetween Fang Guozhen and Sa’dal-Allah are questionable. Therefore，it is doubtful that Sa’dal-Allah onceserved as an aid in Fang Guozhen’s office.
