Abstract:
Compared with jue ju( four-line poems) and ül shi( eight-line poems),ci poetry of Tang andSong dynasties shows its particularity in the narrative of the war disasters. Victims of wars as they were, the cipoets usually chose to avoid the details of war memories or to look at the traumas from a different perspectivein their works so that they could insulate themselves from the pain caused by the traumatic memories. At thesame time, the euphemistic and implicit style featuring the ci poems at that period also made it impossible to alarge extent for them to directly describe brutal scenes of the wars, which would damage the aesthetic nature ofci poems. The combination of pursuing self protection psychologically and making achievements aestheticallyshaped the unique mode of narrating the wars in the ci poems of Tang and Song dynasties.
