Abstract:
The typological orientation of vocational education varies significantly in different times, cultural contexts, and ways of thinking. The understanding of typological attributes should be based on the typological theory and a rational structure supported by the educational practice. From the triple logics of the state, the society, and the individual, we should focus on the core functions of vocational education in its three fundamental dimensions, i.e., contributing to the growth of national development and governance capacities, promoting social solidarity by adapting to the social division of labor, and promoting the all-round development of human beings through a suitable education. The key to emphasizing the type attributes and optimizing the typological orientation lies in the construction of a corresponding system and shaping a normative framework for the cognition of educational diversion and educational types, so that people can acquire a thought schema for understanding the real world of vocational education and phenomena, which can be used to guide our actions and make them meaningful. The institutional adaptation for optimizing the typological orientation of vocational education should focus on transforming the concept of knowledge, laying the conceptual foundation of the typological system of vocational education in the independence of technical knowledge and modes of thinking, strengthening the typological system with the construction of a modern vocational education system, and stabilizing the foundation of the typological system with the construction of a sound supporting institutional system.
