- Abstract:
- Different spatial and temporal environments can produce different personality traits and regionalcharacteristics. The rise and development of the literature produced by female writers from the prestigiousfamilies formed a specific cultural landscape in China’s Jiangnan region in the Qing Dynasty. Womenfrom those big families took advantages of their unique experience gained from their involvement in thegovernmental, commercial and social activities and created a variety of writings on space, thus forming theirpersonalized type of space writings. Their writings are characterized by the diversity of aesthetic objects and therichness of aesthetic feelings. The space form depicted in their writings, to some extent, gradually became thetype of space where they expected to live a meaningful life. In their interaction with the space under their pen, they could describe women’s complex life experiences, and on the basis of this, reach a cognition of differentspaces and their self-identities in those spaces to fully demonstrate an individual’s ideological dimension andlife value. At the same time, their writings have further deepened the social and cultural value of women’sliterature, and have become an important evidence for the important position held by the female literature in theliterary history of the Qing Dynasty.
