Abstract:
Due to some historical coincidences, the story of the orphan of Zhao included in Shiji史记(Records of the Grand Historian)was well accepted by people in the Song Dynasty. In that period, there were three peaks in the development of the discourses about the orphan of Zhao, the last of which(i.e. the discourses about Zhao’s orphan at the end of the Song Dynasty)was the most prominent. The orphan of Zhao actually became a symbol of the adherents of the late Song Dynasty for their loyalty to and affinity with their old country and time, of which Ji Junxiang and his Zhaoshi gu’er赵氏孤儿(The Orphan of Zhao)may be a good embodiment.
