Abstract:
Howard, the great city dreamer and designer of civilization, left us not only his infinite imagination about city planning, but also rich and valuable educational legacies. His city theory includes the understanding and choice of human civilization and ethical life. He hoped that his conception of city and town could breed a new hope, new life and new civilization. Howard’s city theory is strongly associated with a utopian faith and commune complex, which contains the spirit of community education and self-governance ethics. This theory formulates a dream of an ideal city of limited scale. The ultimate goal of this dream is to build a harmonious, free and comfortable town world, where it is possible to realize the classical Greek community policy and its education plan. Howard’s city planning has valuable implications for the construction of social ethics in a town and the moral education of transferred farmers.
