- Abstract:
- In the 1960s, Foucault developed an archaeological method for philosophy, which is an importantlandmark in the development of his thoughts, and thus has decisive significance in understanding the uniquenessof his thoughts. Archaeology of Knowledge is the only book in which Foucault discusses his methodology. At thebeginning of the 1970s, he put forward another method of genealogy, which actually deepened his previousarcheological methodology. Different from philosophical archaeological method which describes historicalphenomena from the perspective of the sucession of epistemes, the genealogical method takes power intoconsideration and tries to examine the relationship of power/knowledge.
