- Abstract:
- In the 16 —17th centuries,England was characterized by various social contradictions, religious cultures, and internal conflicts. Against such a background, the English religious policy followed adevelopment path from mild,to extreme, and back to mild. It seems that this circulation made no progress. But that was not true. If we take a closer look at this issue,we will reveal the truth hidden behind the oscillationbetween mild and extreme in the religious policy of England:it was mainly caused by the formation of nationstate, which was the theme of the early modern times.
