Abstract:: The Communist Party of China(CPC)is determined to enhance its four abilities to carry out self-reform, i.e., abilities to purify, improve, renew, and excel itself. This determination reflects a kind of historical initiative spirit of self-consciousness, self-reflection, and self-confidence, clearly embodies the Party's understanding of the regularity of self-revolution and develops its strategic thought of self-revolution. The Party's abilities in the four aspects mentioned above correspond to its political quality, practical carrier, theoretical guidance, and governance capability respectively. The efforts in the four aspects are ground-breaking, progressive, and mutually supported, forming a systematic organic whole and thus making a cognitive framework for analyzing the connotation and function of the Party's self-revolution. To advance the Party's self-revolution on the new journey, we should fully understand and grasp the essential connotation and practical requirements of the Party's four abilities, maintain the purity of its political quality, strengthen its institutional and organizational system, promote its theoretical innovation and theoretical weapons, and forge a strong fighting spirit and fighting ability.
