Abstract:: A decent life, based on an individual's free choice and subject to objective conditions, is respectable, dignified, and acceptable to the general people. As far as decent life is concerned, what we cannot ignore is the decency of human beings participating in public practice as an intellectual subject. This is the respectability that comes from citizenship. Civic virtue and public rationality are the foundations of a decent public life, while the content of a decent public life is divided into the decency of identity, the decency of action, and the decency of process in terms of the subject, the means and channels of participation. On a practical level, we need to achieve decent public life through exercising the rights and performing the obligations that come with the citizenship, implement the system of democratic consultation, and build a community of shared future for mankind through active actions.
