Abstract:
The philosophical expression of the nostalgia mainly reflects the subject, the object, and the source of nostalgia. In the interpretations or related descriptions of nostalgia by different scholars, their discourses on the tensions between past and present, tradition and modernity, restoration and reconstruction, longing and criticism, etc., all present the conflicting qualities of the root of nostalgia and its conflict with the subject of nostalgia. In the 20th century, the homogenization of ethnic diversity and cultural diversity is an important reason why cultural nostalgia has become one of the main characteristics of modernity. Nostalgia, which is rooted in rural life, especially in interpersonal relationships, spatial carriers, and moral life memories, contains complex emotions of love for the land and homesickness, and has value demands and ethical meanings such as personal aspirations, identity, and spiritual reliance, thus becoming a “Chinese language of modernity” that metaphorically represents urban-rural relations and the peasant identity. “Remembering nostalgia” fully manifests the value of the ethical “returning to the hometown” in the context of rural revitalization. The ethical “returning” requires the ethical “embedding” of nostalgia practice to provide an effective practical path for “remembering nostalgia”.
