Abstract:
The dichotomy between freedom and necessity set up by the mainstream of Western philosophyseverely distorts the intrinsic relationship between free will and autonomous responsibility, making it anunsolvable age-old conundrum. By virtue of the human logic necessarily followed by free will, however, wecan easily find out its answer: since people always act in order to achieve the good they desire, they shouldcertainly assume their own responsibilities for those detrimental effects of their actions out of their own freewill, and the decisive impacts of various causal chains could not cancel, but only mitigate, their responsibilities.
