- There are many controversies over the issues as to who was the author of Guoyu 国 语（ usuallytranslated into English as Discourses of the States） and when it was completed. After reviewing the differentopinions since the Han Dynasty and examining this ancient book and other relevant documents，we arguethat the traditional view proposed by scholars in the Han and Wei Dynasties is reasonable that it wasauthored by Zuo Qiuming in the late Spring and Autumn years and before the Warring States period .
