Abstract:: Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era is the latestdevelopment of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the living Marxism in contemporaryChina. This thought has further enriched and developed the Sinonized Marxism and the Party’s theoreticallines，principles and policies. To carefully study and fully understand Xi’s thought is the major part of the studyand practice of the spirit of his report，i.e. Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Societyin All Respects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era，deliveredat the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The essence of his thought is to uphold anddevelop socialism with Chinese characteristics. General Secretary Xi has fully interpreted the scientific contentand revealed the distinctive features of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.Therefore，at this historical point in the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics，the theme ofupholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics is of far-reaching theoretical and practicalsignificance.
