Abstract:: A good grasp of the socialist core value system proper and a correct understanding of its values, two major tasks in developing and practicing socialist core values, are the basis for implementing the key strategy of constructing the socialist core value system. Addressing the pressing problems China is now facing, the socialist core value system has turned the socialist ideals into a concrete drive to build socialism with Chinese characteristics. It has accomplished unifications between “is” and “should” as well as between reality and value pursuit. The socialist core value system does not only embody a breakthrough in our understanding of socialism, but sheds significant light on the great practice of building socialism with Chinese characteristics as well.
