Abstract:: A major part of Lun Yus ideological resources was from Ping She and Yu Si, which carried the liberal intellectuals observation and thinking of the political phenomena, featuring an obvious political dimension. Adhering to the independence of the intellectuals and the political middle ground and combining political criticism and humorous discourse, the magazine won a lot of freedom to make political criticism. Meanwhile, Lun Yu used its own advantages of bringing together the views and forming public opinions as a public forum, encouraging the public to make an open discussion on various political issues. Its efforts to make political criticism promoted the construction of the public sphere in the 1930s and 1940s.
