- Abstract:
- As a significant method of party governance, intra-party supervision is a clear manifestation of the Chinese Communist Party's(CCP)commitment to self-reform and distinguishes it from other political parties. Intra-party supervision not only fosters a consensus that power must be monitored but also serves as a crucial approach to exploring self-reform. Over the 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the CCP has placed great emphasis on intra-party supervision. The Party has actively promoted the development of intra-party supervision theory and practice by establishing or restoring intra-party supervision institutions, valuing democratic oversight, strengthening institutional frameworks, and focusing on practical innovation. The evolution of intra-party supervision reveals four major characteristics: the combination of inheritance and innovation; integration and advancement with modern state governance; emphasis on combining internal and external supervision; and a focus on systematic and holistic planning. Looking to the future, the clear directions for intra-party supervision include regulating the exercise of power, prioritizing political supervision, fostering a sound political ecosystem, and fully utilizing modern information technology.
