Abstract:
After the 1990s, Haruki Murakami tried to combine psychological trauma and healing with literary narration, which made his works reflect “verbalization and popularization of psychotherapy process”. Murakami's literature focuses on “coincidence” and its psychological effect in the healing process. In the collection of short stories entitled Tokyo Kitan Shu, there is an article Hanalei Bay in which the heroine Sachi loses her only son, and under the appearance of normality and rationality, there appears psychological trauma. Thus, Murakami learned from the “Sandplay Therapy” of clinical psychology, and took the beach of Hanalei Bay in Hawaii as a huge sandbox to demonstrate a Murakami style psychotherapy for the reader. The cure of psychological diseases requires not only a long time, but also an incredible “coincidence”. In this regard, Murakami pointed out that the important thing is the persistence of the heart. If there is a “strong desire”, “coincidence” will emerge in the field of vision as a kind of message, which is helpful for the recovery and healing of psychological trauma.
