- Abstract:
- An in-depth study of the novel Fanhua繁花(Various Flowers)cannot be separated from the discussion of the language it uses. Following the principle of the agreement between words and things, the novel breaks the fetishism in typical Shanghai narrative in contemporary fiction, providing a new way of thinking for the current novel to rise above the limitations imposed by locality. Non-personalized language strategy liberates the restrictive part of literary ethics, making it an important reference for balancing the individuality and publicity of contemporary fictions. The writer of Fanhua has created a brand-new way of narrative by rewriting spoken language, thus leading to an effective correction of the traditional theory of language evolution. Language consciousness based on existence and experience has brought profound enlightenment to the innovation of language concept in modern Chinese fiction.
