- Abstract:
- Taking full advantage of the theatrical space, A Streetcar Named Desire skillfully constructs piecesof vivid, unique and profound landscapes, presenting to the audience slums, and the living conditions ofhomosexuals, immigrants and other marginalized groups. Using background music as a medium, the playwrightcreates a set of poetic landscapes, externalizing the inner world of characters, which makes spectators thinkabout many social problems, like the relationship between urban development and the care of the marginalizedgroups, conflicts between local people and immigrants, and the struggle between the North and the South.
