- Pascal Quignard，a famous contemporary French writer，explored many times the theme of music，and wrote several important works on music. This paper，based on his texts，will study systemically the themeof the hatred of music in Quignard’s works，by combining the knowledge of related disciplines. We will startwith the actual situation of the hateful music，then analyze the mythic prototypes on this subject，and at laststudy the essence of auditory perception which is closely linked with music. Therefore，we could exploredeeply why Quignard hates music，and have a preliminary understanding of his thought on music.
