- Abstract:
- Subjective well-being( SWB),which is influenced by many factors, refers to the personalassessment of one’s positive and negative affect as well as his general satisfaction with life. Employing Positiveand Negative Affect Scale,Life Satisfaction Scale,Index of Well Being,Questionnaire of Thinking Styles,Adolescent’s Life Event Scale, the present study investigated how life events and thinking styles work aspredictors of SWB in a sample of 304 undergraduates by hierarchical regression analysis. It is found thatnegative life events in the interpersonal relationship have a strong predicative effect on the index of well beingand positive and negative affect. Legislative style, hierarchical style, and oligarchic style are found to furtheraugment the prediction of SWB,positive affect and negative affect. In addition, the legislative style is found tobuffer negative association between life events and positive affect. Oligarchic style is found to enlarge negativeassociation between life events and SWB.
