- Abstract:
- During the period of the Republic of China, the city of Nanjing was a place where there was a fullintegration between people and city;people and events;people and history. In this city, modern writers inChina produced many renowned masterpieces, which are listed as intangible cultural heritage. These worksare not only more than a record or trace of their personal pursuits in their life and a sketch of life in the difficulttimes, but also more than a type of materials for literary creation,a literary genre,or a phenomenon in theliterary history. They actually form a special type of history and regional culture. Showing a rich and complexideological world of modern writers, these works make the regional culture of Nanjing unique in elegantprofundity and serve as a cultural landmark of the city. Guided by this understanding of modern writers and theregional culture,we can sketch a landscape of literary history characterized by regional culture and explore thecourse of the ideological evolution of modern writers through re-reading their works so that we can get closer tothe original state of the history of modern Chinese literature.
